Jesus Healing the Sick

"And they brought unto Him all sick people and He healed them."  (Matthew 4:24)

Apples, at the top of the window, represent the fall of man and his sinful nature. The bottom symbol is a brazen serpent on a cross, referring to John 3:14 “As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of man be lifted up”. It also represents the crucifixion. Serpent comes from the Latin word “sin” and is representative of the power of evil in the world. A bursting pomegranate is the symbol of the Resurrection — Christ burst forth from the tomb on Easter; and is symbolic of the fertility of the Word and the richness of the divine grace; also, the power of Christ to conquer sin and impart new life to the sinner. The cedar tree is suggestive of growth (from Psalm 92:12) “The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree; he shall grow like the cedar of Lebanon; and height (Amos 2:9) “Yet destroyed I am Amorite before them whose height was like the height of the cedar”; and represents steadfast faith. In this window, grouped about Christ, are the various races and nationalities of men needing the healing of His touch.
